Event Collaboration Request Process
Get ready for your event collaboration
Before you fill out the request form, take a few minutes to complete the following:Ìý
- Write a short paragraph about your event:
- What is your event about?
- Who do you hope will attend?
- When and where will it happen?
- How does it connect to your organization’s mission?
- What are a few main goals for the people who attend?
- Review the mission of the Center for Student Involvement. Describe the event’s goals and explain how they align with the department’s mission.
- Think about what the bigger CU student community will gain from your event and how you’re helping with leadership, intercultural engagement or fostering a sense of belonging for everyone there.
- How does your event show you care about making campus welcoming for all?
- What financial, personnel and other resources are available to your organization? Ìý
Remember: This partnership isn’t just free funding for your organization—CSI expects you to share costs fairly. You can look for extra funding from other sources if you need it, and it’s smart to make a draft budget.Ìý
Send in your request
When you’re ready, fill out the for your event idea.ÌýÌý
You can send in forms from June 1, 2025, until March 9, 2026. No forms are accepted between spring break and June 1. Ìý
Try to send your form at least 60 days before your event, so there’s enough time to plan. The latest you can submit is 14 days before your event but earlier is always better. Student organization leaders must consider the scope of their event when planning to submit their request form. Some events (like a simple tabling event at I Love Mondays) need less prep and can be requested closer to the date. Bigger events need more notice. CSI might reject a proposed collaboration if there’s not enough time to plan and execute the event. Ìý
The proposed event’s mission must align with the mission of CSI, and one of the following signature program areas:Ìý
- Activate
- Alienware Buffalo Esports and Gaming Lounge or Gaming Programs
- Buffalo Nites
- Buffs After Dark
- DIY Nights
- Dennis Small Cultural Center programs
- I Love Mondays
- Or propose a new idea for a general CSI collaborationÌý
Next steps
After you submit your form, a CSI staff member for that program area will look over your request—usually within five business days—and see if it fits with CSI’s goals, resources and university rules. If something’s missing, they might ask you to make changes.Ìý
If you have questions or want to check on your request, email involvement@colorado.edu.
Next, CSI staff will reach out to your organization’s leaders to set up a meeting. This is your chance to talk over the details, tweak your plans if needed and get clear on what you and CSI will each do for the event. Sometimes a senior student event planner joins this meeting, too.Ìý
CSI might also ask you to update your request form after this chat if needed.Ìý
Once your event is approved, you and CSI will team up to plan and run your event—splitting tasks, sharing resources and making sure everything goes smoothly. You’ll also use agreed-on steps to keep each other accountable throughout the process.Ìý
After the event, your group’s leaders and the CSI staff will take time to reflect, give each other feedback and celebrate what you accomplished together. This usually includes:Ìý
- Filling out a feedback form
- Meeting to discuss what worked and what could be better next time
- Any other feedback steps CSI or your org requestsÌý
Partnering with CSI is an opportunity to help your organization grow and make a real impact at CU—so don’t miss out!Ìý
