Subito Press is a non-profit literary publisher based in the Creative Writing Program of the Department of English at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Subito Press encourages and supports work that challenges already-accepted literary modes and devices.

There are various reading series programs associated with the MFA, including the Creative Writing Reading Series, which is run by the department and funds authors of interest from around the world to visit campus where they speak to our students about their work. Graduate students also have a standing relationship with Trident Booksellers and Cafe downtown, where they often perform more impromptu readings of newly written work; this is called Static Parade. There is also a graduate student run reading series called 5x5, which brings together five MFA programs from around the state to share their writing with each other throughout the academic year.Ìý

TIMBER Journal

Timber Journal

Ìý

Twice a year TIMBER publishes a selection of prose, poetry, and visual text-work, along with rolling interviews and reviews with contemporary writers and artists.ÌýWe believe in taking raw materials and building something beyond the expected.

Run by the MFA candidates out of the University of Colorado-Boulder, we value work which pushes against boundaries: genre-bend, build or break form, confront the rules and voices of the canon. If you’re not flirting with failure or writing risky, it’s probably not for us.Ìý
